Styles to Choose From

There is great news for any mom choosing to use cloth diapers in this age. They're more modern, simple to use, and even fashionable! Gone are the days of folding a flat rectangular diaper like intricate origami and using giant safety pins to fasten the diaper around baby. (Though this option is still available if mom really wants it.) The cloth baby diapers of today come in many different styles, and colors, and they are actually really *gasp* cute!

"All-in-ones"

One of the most popular cloth diaper styles is known as all-in-one and resembles very closely it's disposable counterpart. As the name suggests this style is all one piece with no need for the signature crinkle of the plastic pants that cloth baby diapers are famous for.

The fasteners on cloth all-in-one style diapers are usually snaps or velcro and using this kind is really simple. In fact, the real difference is that every 2-3 days the diapers need to be loaded into a washing machine and washed rather than emptied from a diaper pail into the trash. All-in-ones are however, the most expensive option when it comes to cloth diapering.

"Pre-folds"

Sometimes referred to as old-fashioned diapers, prefold diapers resemble the look many imagine from the past. But, even prefolds are available with modern upgrades such as velcro closure, cute printed designs and Snappi closures which eliminate the need to use sharp pins around baby's delicate skin.

Why Do Moms choose Cloth?

The reasons Moms are choosing to cloth diaper today are as wide as they are broad. For some it has to do with our impact on the environment. Those moms choose cloth because it means reducing and reusing. Your cloth diaper gifts will be washed and reused rather than thrown away, and that makes her feel like she is making a difference and doing her part in caring for her baby and her world.

Other moms choose to use cloth instead of disposable diapers because buying diapers over and over, week after week, just doesn't sit well with their wallet. Two to three years of regular diaper use translates into thousands of diapers and that can really add up. So, moms are looking at less expensive alternatives.

Still, other moms choose cloth over disposable diapers because of the way they feel. Cloth cotton diapers are softer and more natural feeling than their plastic or paper counterparts. We wear cotton under-clothing because it is comfortable. Some moms believe that disposable diapers are scratchy and plastic feeling and that does not translate to comfort.
