Here's the nursing cover I made using a free pattern for nursing cover from Blisstree.com
It turned out nearly identical to the expensive brand name nursing cover-ups, but at a fraction of the price. This is such a great homemade baby shower gift idea because it's quick, and inexpensive, but packs so much style. And if you happen to want one yourself or have more than one friend expecting a baby, it's really easy to make more than one.
You'll use D-rings to fasten the straps and they actually come in packages of 4 so you start out with enough for two covers right out of the gate. In addition each cover uses a yard of fabric and about 16 inches of corset boning, and of course, matching thread.
For me the tutorial was really clear and easy to follow, but if you get hung up look in the comments or post one of your own to get an answer to your question.
In the end you have a totally personalized nursing cover up, customized to your color and design preferences. The hardest part for me was choosing which fabric to out of the countless choices at the fabric store. I got so many compliments on the one I made and I know you will too.
